When to refer a patient to Care Fertility?

Any age when there is a diagnosed ovulatory or seminal abnormality or past history suggestive of tubal disease, or another known risk factor for infertility. Otherwise, refer to the table below.

Male age is less than 5 years older than female

After 24 months of trying to conceive

After 12 months of trying to conceive

After 9 months of trying to conceive

As soon as possible

Male age is more than 5 years older than female

After 6 months of trying to conceive

As soon as possible

Tests required before seeing a Care Fertility doctor

Female patients:

  • Rubella serology
  • Hepatitis B serology
  • Hepatitis C serology
  • HIV serology
  • Varicella serology
  • Syphilis serology
  • TSH
  • Blood group and Ab screening

Male patients:

  • Semen analysis will be performed at Care Fertility in addition to at least one other sample at any laboratory separated by at least two months
  • HIV serology
  • Hepatitis B serology
  • Hepatitis C serology
  • Syphillis serology
